Elisabeth Matthei Schacht

Ms. Matthei holds a Law Degree (Bachelor of Legal and Social Sciences), summa cum laude, from the Universidad de Chile School of Law and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Law from Universidad Alberto Hurtado (2018).

She is Counsel at HARASIC / BARROS, where she practices in litigation and criminal advisory matters. She also provides legislative advisory services to the Chamber of Deputies.

Previously, she worked as an associate at Bofill Escobar (2013–2016), Lama Abogados (2017), and Albagli Zaliasnik (2017–2018). She later served as a litigation advisor at the National Institute of Human Rights (2019–2022) and as a legislative advisor at the Ministry General Secretariat of the Presidency (2022–2026).

She has taught Criminal Law at Universidad de Santiago, Universidad Alberto Hurtado, and Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez, and Criminal Procedure at the latter. She has also taught courses at the Judicial Academy and conducted training sessions for the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Ms. Matthei is co-author of the article “Caso MOP-GATE” available in “Casos Destacados, Derecho Penal, Parte Especial”. She has written various commentaries for the Journal of Criminal Sciences and has participated in several Fondecyt research projects.
